Driver Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Route 17 In Hudson Valley

A 37-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way crash involving a box truck on Route 17 in Orange County, authorities said.

The crash happened in Harriman around 4 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, when troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle fatal accident on Route 17, according to New York State Police. 

Investigators determined that a box truck driven by a 23-year-old resident of Richmond, Virginia had been traveling northbound on Route 17 when he entered the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a black Honda driven by Edwin A. Ottenwalder Nunez, 37, of Middletown.

Ottenwalder Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and no charges have been announced.
